Pure O can take on many forms, the most common are:
- HOCD – Constantly questioning your sexuality against your natural inclination
- POCD – Having sexually inappropriate thoughts about children
- ROCD – Questioning faith or the existance or non-existance of a deity
- ROCD2 – Constant focus on a relationship or loss of it
- There are others but they are less common.
- Obsess that you might be attracted to the same sex as yourself?
- Look at people of the same sex and get sexual feelings?
- Get ‘groinal responses’ when looking at same sex people?
- Test your sexuality by looking at people of the same sex?
- Have more sex with your partner to ‘prove’ you are not attracted to your same sex?
- Access pornography to prove you are not attracted to same sex people?
- ‘Check yourself’ to see if you are aroused by the same sex?
If you know you are gay… do you do the same thoughts about the opposite sex?
ALL of the above and, indeed, any other thoughts about being attracted to the same sex as yourself or being ‘gay’, or being gay and having the same anxieties about being ‘straight’, are 100% NORMAL in the presence of anxiety.
Anxiety is a disorder… it is the disorder of the emotion of fear.
HOCD has nothing to do with sexuality – A person’s sexuality isn’t a choice, it’s a genetic preset – what this means is that where you fall on the the long line between total heterosexuality and total homosexuality isn’t a matter of conscious choice… it’s genetic.
If you are having thoughts like “what if I am gay” or, if you are gay, “what if I’m straight”, these aren’t the same as the thoughts and feelings homosexuals experience as they discover their sexuality. Do you understand that?
